Cheese has been a part of my life from the beginning.
I was born and raised in Plymouth, Wisconsin, the Cheese Capital of the World™. As a kid, I would play hide-and-go-seek among the slicing, dicing and cutting machines of my family’s cheese company, Sargento Foods, Inc. (In hindsight, it seems rather ridiculous we were allowed to do this!) Anyhow, growing up, whether it was a big celebration or simply sitting around the kitchen table with friends, cheese was the centerpiece of my life. And now, with kids of my own, cheese is still the final touch to every day and the reason I’m excited to bring you The Big Cheese.
The Big Cheese was born in the midst of chaos. During the height of the pandemic, I discovered some phenomenally bold, aged cheddar in my hometown of Plymouth. I fell in love with this cheese and knew I had to share it with others. I built a team and decided to launch our direct-to-consumer website just in time for the holidays. Our goal was simple: deliver unprecedented flavor with a sense of humor. Fortunately, the pandemic affirmed what we already knew: being together with loved ones was still the most important part of life and cheese was often an added attraction. Our initial launch was a huge success and it inspired us to build a portfolio of products that will match the magic of our first cheddar.
Whether it’s our Wicked White Cheddar or our Glorious Golden, we are confident The Big Cheese will take its place at the table of your life and place a bold punctuation mark at the end of each day.
